Who are we?

Elve is a deep-tech hardware manufacturing startup based in Davis, California, just outside Sacramento.

Our patent-pending technology enables 100x faster wireless internet access in urban settings and remote locations. By transforming the design and manufacturing of high-efficiency lightweight millimeter-wave and near-THz RF power amplifiers, we are making it possible to produce the large quantities of amplifiers required to enable the next generation of wireless networks.

What are we up to?

Many companies will tell you they are disrupting their industry, but we truly are.

For almost a century, manufacturing vacuum electronics has been a slow, labor-intensive process. It doesn’t have to be, and our pioneering approach to their creation is proving it.

What’s that look like?

• Developing an additive manufacturing technique that allows RF circuits of different frequencies to be manufactured using the same process

• Focusing on scalability from day 1 with a “manufacturing-first” approach

• Hardware revision iteration cycles measured in days or weeks instead of months to years

• Employing nanocomposite scandate tungsten electron emitters for the significantly lower work function

• Using a “sheet” electron beam with an elliptical cross-section to reduce space charge density and power density in the beam

Those kinds of advances are born from brilliant minds and a “yes, and” approach to innovation that values fresh ideas, pushing thoughts further and building on what’s come before. It’s this “yes, and” mentality that’s helped us build a culture of possibility. The “and” is how good ideas become great and how great ideas become breakthroughs. The “and” is how Elve is changing a 100-year-old industry and creating intricate devices faster and cheaper than anyone thought possible.

We were founded by one of the brightest young minds in the industry, and we’ve built a multi-disciplinary team full of leading thinkers in RF and vacuum sciences. Manufacturing traveling wave tubes and amplifiers requires closely collaborating across multiple domains, including RF engineering, thermal/mechanical design, material science, electrical engineering, product and hardware design, and manufacturing engineering.

We are doing groundbreaking work with global benefit, aiming to bring high-speed internet to over a billion people globally who today have slow to no connectivity. We are well on the way, but to make that goal a reality, we need more help.
